Initial Post

Hello!

I am a freshman at Florida State University and this is my blog for Intro to Education Technology. I recently just got back from studying abroad in London, England. I'm majoring in English Education, and one day hope to teach English in other parts of the world. Along with reading, I enjoy going to different art museums and exploring new cities.

In the past, I have not had a lot of experiences with "fancy" technology in the educational setting. I have used smartboards, laptops, and different types of websites from Prezi to Kahoot, but nothing very different from any other student. I do have experience with photoshop and apps regarding photography that most typical students haven't. Overall, I feel like I have a lot of basic skills for things like Word, Powerpoint, and Google docs, but nothing too in detail.

In this class, I hope to learn how to use technology effectively in the classroom. I want to teach kids in high school, which is an age group that is typically very familiar with the latest technology. By being able to incorporate technology that they use for leisure I will be able to engage them more with the curriculum. Overall, if I gain a good understanding of the different ways to use technology in the classroom, I will feel like I have gained a lot from this course.

  2. What a wonderful experience in London! Why don't you go to Korea to teach English? :-) Parents in S.Korea are sooooo enthusiastic about teaching their kids English.
